Los Angeles is the storage capital of California. With the most facilities–and some of the highest prices–of any city in the state, Los Angeles does storage like nowhere else in the Golden State. LA boasts 51 storage facilities, 35 more than the state average of 15, and the average price of a unit is $172.63, $33.40 more than the state average of $139.23. Statewide, only Pasadena and San Clemente have higher prices, while both have far fewer facilities.
Thicker, darker lines represent a larger proportion of facilities.
Bakersfield is the cheapest place for storage in California, with an average unit price of $87 and seven facilities. Modesto comes close at $95, as well as Santa Maria at $104. San Bernardino strikes a nice balance between price and supply, with an average unit price of $120 and 39 total facilities. With an average price of $154 and only 13 facilities, San Francisco appears to be a good place to get into the storage business.

That Los Angeles claims such a state title is no small matter: California is in a dead heat with New York and Texas for Storage State of America. Californian cities have an average of 15 storage facilities, three more than the national average of 12. The average monthly price of a unit in Californian cities is $139.23, $10.30 more than the average national price of $128.93.
